Those feelings of stress and anxiety? Everyone feels like that sometimes! But if you’re looking for how to stop feeling stressed out, I have 6 tips to get out of the funk you’re in and kick stress to the curb!

Tips to feel less stressed

1. Start with Gratitude

If you’re wondering how to stop feeling stressed out, the first thing you should do is start with some gratitude. Instead of focusing on the bad and playing the blame and shame game, think of all the good in your life! If you keep saying “I’m stressed” over and over again, you’re going to stay under that stress. By changing your perspective and using gratitude, you can ground yourself and start getting rid of that stress you feel.

This is another reason why I start and end every day with gratitude. Every day is a new day, and you deserve to give yourself a little grace, no matter what went wrong yesterday. Then, at the end of the day, you can reflect and think back positively on what went right so you are in a good mindset before going to bed.

2. Exercise

This is one of the most important things you can do when you’re feeling really stressed out. Get out and move your body! Jillian Kubala and Kerri-Ann Jennings explained that people who include regular physical activity in their routines have better moods, reduced stress, and improved mental health!

This is also another reason why I love my Group Fitness Coaching program. By switching it up with a variety of workouts (and me as your personal cheerleader), exercising can be tons of fun!

3. Plan a Social Function

One of the best ways to change your mood when you’re wondering how to stop feeling stressed out is by planning something fun! Whether this is a coffee date, some type of outing, or even calling a friend. Whatever it looks like for you, switch up your routine and spend time with the people you love.

4. Eat Healthy Foods

Nutrition and hydration are huge when you can’t stop feeling stressed! In the same article above, they also mention the importance of following a healthy diet and having enough nutrient-dense foods to regulate your moods. This is another reason why following fad or restrictive diets can harm you… Your body needs good, clean fuel to function!

5. Use Only Kind Words

When you’re wondering how to stop feeling stressed out, you should stop for a minute and ask yourself if you’re using kind words with yourself and with others! When we are under a lot of stress, we may lash out at others or talk negatively about ourselves. But negativity only breeds more negativity! Be kind to yourself, and you will start to see a change in your mood!

6. Write Down Your Goals

Every morning and every evening, I write down my goals and my mission statement. This helps me to refocus on what I want to achieve. Remembering what you want to accomplish and why you are working so hard can help you turn that stress into action!

Feeling Stressed Out and Overwhelmed?

When I have hard, stressful days, I do allow myself to sit in my feelings. If you’re going through something right now, honor those feelings! It takes a little bit of time, but with some practice and using the tips above, you will find that your stress levels decrease and you’re able to have a better perspective.
