The Best Ways to Improve Endurance

Hello friends!

Something that has been weighing on my heart and mind recently is the ways to improve endurance.

As an endurance athlete myself, I’ve had to grow accustomed to the things that are uncomfortable. I’ve had to endure a lot of experiences that might not be “fun.” But, I know that I have to get out there and do the work, even when things get hard.

How Do I Improve Endurance?

There’s a military phrase that goes along with endurance perfectly:

Embrace the suck.

We have to endure what is in front of us, the pain or the “suck.” When we set these intentions and big goals for ourselves, the struggles, obstacles, and pain are going to creep in. But instead of letting those things get to us and cause us to quit, we need to embrace them!

One of the best ways to improve endurance is by visualizing. A visualization practice allows you to put yourself in the triumph before it happens. I have done this many times for myself, and it’s also something that I practice with students in The Million Dollar Body Academy.

Push Yourself!

One of the best ways to improve endurance? Get out of your comfort zone! I’m not saying you have to suffer, but honestly, nothing good comes from staying in your comfort zone!

Triumph comes when you push yourself through the tough stuff. It comes after you want to quit, you’ve been rejected, the doors are closing, you feel like you can’t stand up anymore…. But then you endure through it!

And when you feel that triumph, it can change your life!

When things get tough, people tend to quit or retreat. Your brain keeps count of the times you quit on yourself and uses it against you later… But guess what? You can retrain your brain by pushing yourself to reach your goals! When you keep those commitments you made to yourself, you can feel excited that you stayed the course and got through.

I’ve Felt It Too…

Guess what? You’re not alone!

I’ve had times when I’ve given up or let myself think that I couldn’t accomplish my goals. I’ve lost my momentum and really struggled to get it back.

If you need ways to improve endurance, you’re not alone! We’re not meant to do this all by ourselves. There are people out there who want to support you. If you’re looking for community, I’ve got you! Having support makes enduring easier. We can help each other out and become the best versions of ourselves!

And those times when I endured and didn’t give up? I felt great! That feeling of gratitude and accomplishment pushes me through to the next goal I set.

Find the tricks that work for you. Develop tools to help you on your way. Get help from people who have done it before or who want to do it with you.

You have to be relentless at getting what you want…. But you can do it!

Ways to Improve Endurance: Take a Look at How Far You’ve Come

You’ve endured so much already in your life… and guess what? You’ve gotten through 100% of it!

We all have cycles in our lives. We have good days and bad days. But it’s about keeping that momentum and enduring through the times that suck. This is just another blip in time. If you want to become a better version of yourself and you have a vision for where you want your life to go, what’s stopping you from achieving it? What’s it going to take to get you there? Are you going to quit?

Or, are you going to endure?

Practice and Endurance: Don’t Give Up!

Kathleen Ferraro over at Byrdie explained that once you build endurance, you have to keep working for it. This is a skill that you will be able to increase and build over time! Keeping a diary is a great way to track what you are doing each day to improve your endurance. Or, my free 30-day habit tracker is the perfect way to start building those simple habits and increase your endurance over time.

That feeling of regret is worse than the pain you feel when you push through something hard. Don’t give up on yourself! You are worth it! And when you accomplish your goals, you are going to be able to tell an amazing story at the end.
